#ZBSNews President Lazarus Chakwera has taken a ride on the upgraded Nkala rail line which passes through the Shire North Railway bridge.
Central East African Railway (CEAR) Project Manager, Chrispin Kapalamula, says the rail line which is part of the Nacala corridor replaced an old bridge constructed in the early 1930s and outlived its life span.
Kapalamula says the bridge constructed to a tune of $13 million has upgraded from 15 to 20.5 axle tonnage and 5 meter space for pedestrian and bycycle access which the old bridge lacked.
